Don’t you wish you could stop time and bottle up the magic of childhood? I love when Luke writes that Mary treasured in her heart the wondrous things happening to her new baby son, the Messiah (Luke 2:19). I can relate to that (to a lesser degree, of course; just a normal kid for me).

The innocence of childhood is precious. I wish to make my children’s years as magical and innocent as possible. And this year, I’m excited for a magical Easter.

How Our Family Approaches Easter

As Christians, Easter Sunday still looks like, well, Sunday. We go to church and remember Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection every single Sunday through the Lord’s Supper. And while we don’t personally celebrate Easter Sunday to be any more sacred than every Lord’s Day already is, we do appreciate that the whole world traditionally reflects on the resurrection. As my father so thoughtfully reminded me once, “We appreciate any time more people think more about Jesus.”

Enjoying Easter as Parents to a Toddler

We are looking forward to Easter this year because our firstborn is old enough to be excited with us. I can’t wait to see him wake up to a little Easter basket with goodies that suddenly appear—like magic! However, I have a dilemma.

“Stuff” is my nemesis. I have a hard time keeping up with the clutter as more “stuff” comes in our home. So I’m intentionally curating this year’s Easter basket with a mix of fun things and practical needs. If you’re also looking for ideas that support intentional living, keep reading for inspiration.

The best part is, shopping though these links doesn’t cost you an extra cent, but the commissions help fund the expenses of this blog. Thank you for supporting our work!

Here are 32 items you can put inside your toddler’s Easter basket

What I’m not getting: The actual basket.

Personally, I own plenty of baskets that work perfectly fine. We’ll set it on the kitchen table overnight and he’ll be surprised with all the items inside it in the morning.

It’s hard for me to justify purchasing an Easter themed basket we’ll use one day a year when I have so many that are practical for multiple uses and occasions. I’d rather use my budget for the goods inside (but if you’re looking to go all out, maybe get this one in my honor).

Perfect Books for an Easter Basket

I’m excited to add this adorable book to our little library this year. Tabitha Paige is a Speech-Language Pathologist and artist who makes beautiful children’s books. She creates beautifully illustrated books designed to help children build language skills. She has a brand new Easter story out. Take a look at these beautifully illustrated pages.

What’s Going in Your Easter Baskets?

Share in the comments what you’d include in a practical and intentional Easter basket! I hope you enjoy the holiday with your family. And let’s remember that we don’t have to wait until next year to celebrate the resurrection again–we can do so every Sunday.
